About the Author
George C. Halvorson is the Chair and CEO for the Institute for InterGroup Understanding. He is also serving a four year appointment as Chair of the First Five Commission for Children and Families for the State of California. Halvorson is the retired Chair and CEO for Kaiser Permanente, a fifty billion dollar vertically integrated health care delivery and financing system. He has been the CEO of five health care organizations and is the author of seven books on health care delivery and health care reform. He believes that saving our children needs to be one of our highest priorities as a nation.

Provides great depth on a subject many parents take for granted

When we step back and take a look at many of our societal woes, it's clear we can draw a pretty straight line from the behaviors and actions of many adults back through time to the world they experienced at an early age. George Halvorson provides compelling point after point of the necessity for genuine and consistent interaction with our children from the moment they come into the world. Given our hectic, technology infused lives we live today, this is a great read and reminder of all that's involved in creating and raising a remarkable child equipped to thrive throughout their lives.

An enlightening perspective for all parents!

This book shares such an enlightening perspective of the importance of early childhood education and engagement. It is a must read for anyone who is having a child or who has a small child. If this was given out to all mothers when they left the hospital it would help our country be a better place.
