About the Author
The enchanting work of Sydney author Lang Leav swings between the whimsical and woeful, expressing a complexity beneath its childlike facade. Elizabeth Cottle is an actress, singer, and theatre director based in Northwest Ohio. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts and Musical Theatre from Ohio Northern University, where she received an Irene Ryan Nomination. She is a veteran of more than 30 community theatre productions, and and was recognized for Excellence in Acting by the Ohio Community Theatre Association. In addition to her theatre background, Elizabeth has a wide variety of performing experience, from serving as lead vocalist with a jazz orchestra, to filming commercials, to doing improv sketch comedy.

Worth buying and waiting for :)

I've always loved whatever Lang Leav posted on Tumblr. Whether it'd be original or from someone else, it was always pleasing to read and I could always relate. When I heard the news about this book, I was extremely thrilled. The thought of having the works of an incredible poet and artist in this form was unreal. After what seemed to feel like years, the book finally came in the mail. And might I say, the wait was terribly long. I think that's the only con of purchasing it through the mail. It's worth it though. The poems are short and sweet and my favorite were of the short stories sprinkled throughout the book (if that's what they're called). I absolutely love this book. I hope I don't come off as wacko, but it's really great. Go treat yourself and purchase this, ya won't regret it :)

Beautiful

This book is simple, yet brilliant and beautiful. It's charming, cute, sad, and sweet. Some of the verses hit home, and are very relatable. I must have bunny eared at least 10 favorites. The first part is "Misadventure" - quirky and offbeat. The second part (and my favorite), is "The Circus of Sorrows". Anyone who's ever been through heartbreak can relate to this section. And lastly, part three - "Love" is uplifting. It reminds us of what we have, or what we have to look forward to. Lang Leav is truly an artist of all sorts. Excellent, simple book to read. Highly recommend.

Not the penultimate I hope.

Nimber 6 of 7, so far. Hard to review, I feel like I'm repeating myself, having read and reviewed all the others. You be the judge, intrigue, murder, deception, romance, historic, hard to put down. Scottish and Irish pioneering families in outback Australia feuding, falling in love, going to war. It has it all yet again.

Evil prevails as oldest son outsmarts his opponents!

The author story is well written but his efforts draw readers into buying more of the sequel leaves me with the feeling that the"good" characters lack the intelligence to out maneuver him and bring him down.

I site Patrick and his son Alex whom the author has developed into a intense military personalities but lacking the intelligence or desire to protect themselves from Georges actions to wrest away their shares in family enterprises. This shows lack of realistic attitudes and character.

It becomes tiresome and distasteful as a reader to have the author develope plots and events that continue to advance the greed and unethical plans of the evil George. No matter how well the"good guys" try they lose out to George; suffer war injuries, cheated out of their inheritances, killed by crooked police, etc. Author could develop content that at least shows that the "good guys" are not dim witted and are able to deal with evil not having to suffer to the deathes, injuries, and multitude of misfortunes.

Evil George whom is also under the curse has not been affected by it at all? Something a good writer would not allow to transpire obviously another miscue by this author that does relate well. Again the author's clumsy attempt to have you buy another seauel!

A Good Starting Point

This book starts with a brief introduction about the PE industry, including the spectrum from VC(Venture Capital) to LBO(Leverage Buyout) funds. It goes over the life cycle of a PE fund, various roles of employees and the 2/20 income model. It goes over the traditional and non-traditional routes of breaking into PE industry. The book has good and specific recommendations to start early in the college for people who know they want to work in PE. It also outlines the possible way a pre-MBA, MBA grad, advanced professionals can enter this industry. The Case Studies at the end of each chapter illuminate the importance of early planning, hard work and networking. It has a helpful chapter on how to best structure your resume and how to prepare for the interview. If you are in the process of exploring strategies to break into PE industry, this book is a good starting point. If you are looking to better understand the details of PE industry, this book is not for you

Good level of detail

Previously, I had friends who had worked with PE firms, but I didn't know much about it. This book is a good compliment to a book like The New Tycoons, and it goes into plenty of detail on how to pursue a role in private equity. It would have been even better had there been more detail on what life is like working at various firms. That way, the reader could connect the interview process at various levels to how that translates into "a day in the life".

I didn't want it to end!!!! AWESOME!

Poor Helen has grown up without sight. Being blind didn't stop her from being a wonderful writer, but after a horrid assault she runs away from the world to live in a cabin in the middle of nowhere.

After meeting a couple of wonderful (and funny) doctors who want to perform an operation that might restore her sight, Helen ends up back at her childhood home.

Helen has to endure a nasty reminder of the most horrible thing that ever happened to her, learn to be strong and fight back and maybe to fall in love with a wonderful man.

Ending with a huge cliffhanger that makes you scream NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The author has an amazing way with words, I totally could not stop reading this series... I just started this morning and it's only 5pm and I already read books one and two. The character of Helen is superbly crafted .... she is real and believable and I can't help but sit in anticipation for Book 3 to come out :)

Wow... such a fun day I've had in Helen's world.

I would recommend these books to anyone really...

A Book Of Love And The Strength It Can Give

If you've read the first Clarity book, then there is no reason you shouldn't be picking up this second installment. If you haven't read the first Clarity book- read it, and then make your way onto Clarity 2. You won't regret picking them up.

The first book ends on a dramatic cliff-hanger that leaves you both reeling in heartbreak and ever-thankful for Liam's existance. This book picks up, just as the first one left off. And you're thrown right back to the beginning of the story, in a sense. In the first book you watched Helen transform from rape victim, to rape survivor. Now, you watch her become rape victim again (not necessarily in the terms of the act, but more in the terms of mentality). It's one of the most devistating emotional blows I've ever experienced as a reader. To watch so much hope be drown back down to squaler. And yet, even amidst all of this- you find still, somehow, a glimmer of hope.

In this second book I found myself much more on edge. There was, I think, more suspense in this book. And as a reader, I find myself hanging onto Liam tighter and tighter. He was the one thing that somehow made everything okay. And you still love Helen, and you want her to be strong. But at the same time, you just really want her to lean on Liam.

In this book, as a reader, I think you'll fall more deeply in love with Liam. In the first book, you perhaps trip over him and see him as someone worth admiring. But in this book you truly, truly, admire him. And it's hard not to love him. The romance in this book is more sincere. It's not light and fun anymore- but honest and deep. There's a need for it now, more than a want. And I think it's something that is so beautiful. So devistatingly beautiful.

Once again this book takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. You'll find yourself in every corner of happiness and sadness. I was turning the pages faster on this book than I was on the first. I think there were a lot of 'unfinished things' that I needed to read through at a quicker pace in this book. By the end I'm speechless. And once again yearning for the next and last book of the series. If you haven't read the first Clarity- read it, and then come to this one. And if you were left with the dramatic end of the first Clarity and looking for more- delve into Clarity 2. It's, once again. worth the pain and beauty it brings. I cannot wait for the third book.

Better than the first

Book One ended with Helen discovering that her sister was fixing to marry Helen's rapist. Book two begins with Helen locked in the bathroom, her whole world coming apart and not knowing how to stop her sister from walking down the aisle. With the help of Liam, her new found friend and doctor, Helen begins to learn how to deal with Grayson.

Once again Loretta delivers a powerful story that brings out so many emotions. When Grayson is telling her why he raped her and trying to make her understand I wanted to scream. Liam is so sweet and patient with Helen and I love how he can make her feel safe but at the same time encouraging her to be independent.

Like Book 1, Book 2 is short in pages but not in delivery. There are a couple of jaw droppers and the cliffhanger is sure to make you scream "When is Book 3 coming out!!!!!" I can't wait for it.

pregnant sex

The book was not what I expected. It had a few good reading points for new mothers that are not familiar with their bodies and desire more insight of what to expect and how to please themselves sexually. Not enough detailed picures as I would have like. It's not for me but someone else may find it useful. However, the book arrived on time.

This not for the faint hearted.

We actually purchased this book from our local sex toy store. This book is explicit and while the pictures are pretty much pornographic the content is worthwhile and very "cleanly" written and I found it to be very informative in a very simple kind of way. Aside from the first chapter where is discusses female anatomy and the like there were no large technical terms. It was just matter or fact with an overall tone that anything that is safe and feels good to the mom-to be is a perfectly viable sexual option. It even includes a final chapter on labor and birth at the end. It has a very open stance on who your sexual partner maybe and thus refers to men and women partners throughout. It does use both the F-word and the P-word on occasion and within their perspective chapters, but as I said I purchased this book at our local sex mega store and this book is part of series of books about various types of sex from a company called Erotic Review. I knew what I was expecting and this book provided exactly that: a look at pregnant sex starting with assumption that pregnancy is sexy and erotic and that sex while pregnant can be some of the best you've ever had.

This is not for demure mothers' to be looking for ways to have fulfilling yet safe sex while pregnant. This is for the woman (and her partner) who are full on into trying the possibilities and taking advantage of the high hormone levels of pregnant sex.

Note: there is a plug of ads for other boos by Erotic Review at the end of the book. That was really my only complaint.

being pregnant has put a bump in our sex life so i was trying to get some ideas, but this goes way too deep for me. girls on girls, and they are both prego. Not something ive considered.

FRIEDRICH

In considering what other book about the Holocaust (besides Anne Frank's DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL) to have my eighth-grade students read this year, I am considering FRIEDRICH as it offers something new to the mix that I consider thought-provoking: what was it like to be swept up into the Nazi party as a child, thinking that the initial get-togethers with other kids were fun!

DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL is light-years ahead of FRIEDRICH in writing style, emotional depth, and the overwhelming intricacies of what it is like to watch someone mature. It is also non-fiction, very much from a girl's perspective, and is a slowly evolving story that deals with Jews in hiding -- the story becomes more about the internal world of Anne Frank than external world of the Nazis; FRIEDRICH offers something different.

I think the most affecting aspect of FRIEDRICH is the slow development of the horror of the Third Reich. At first, both boys (Friedrich and the narrator) think being a member of the Jungvolk is great, but over time comes the slow realization that the world is not all fun and games. In fact, when the narrator joins the mob destroying a Jewish school, he doesn't share the political will, but simply enjoys the idea of smashing things -- the internalization of what he's doing doesn't really enter the picture until he sees the same mob enter Friedrich's apartment and do the same thing.

This unique, horrifying de-evolution of civility is presented very simply; so simple that the reading level of FREIDRICH is probably fifth- or sixth-grade. However, I have read many children's/young adult books that are told simply, but convey much deeper meaning, and deserve a careful analysis.

FRIEDRICH is not meant to replace DIARY OF A YOUNG GIRL, but it is a very good companion piece -- particularly as it is more of a boys' book and that's important for a teacher to have in his/her arsenal when working with such a difficult subject.

I believe that the publisher could package this book better (new cover art, more factual addenda), and I would recommend getting a translation that uses a higher level vocabulary to attract more students to it. These changes would truly give a boost to the use of this book in the classroom.

You will ask," What is Friedrich about?" Friedrich is about a boy named Friedrich (obviously), who is living in the time Hitler came to power (1925-1942). Actually, Hitler came to power in 1933, but the book starts out in 1925. The problem is that Friedrich is Jewish. This book is divide into chapters that are multiple places in the book. You might be in the middle of a page, and then it's a new chapter.
This summary will tell about this book. The first two chapters are when Friedrich and the narrator are young (as in 5-year-old young). Then there is this big jump, and all of a sudden, Friedrich and the narrator are 9-10 years old and Friedrich is getting hassled. As the years go on, Friedrich is almost sent to concentration camp. Will Friedrich survive, will he be sent to his death (a concentration camp), or die another way? You will have to read this book to find out.
This book has amazing emotions. An example is when Friedrich goes into his apartment and sees Herr Resh taking stuff from his apartment when he didn't have his parents. If you read the book you will find out what happened to Friedrich's parents. This book also has amazing detail. An example of when the book as amazing detail is all through out the book. It describes everything in depth.
My favorite part in the book is when the narrator and Friedrich are at the swimming pool. They describe the sun, as a scorching sun and the water wasn't just water, it was glistening water. This is my favorite seen because it goes deeper into the book by explaining everything in depth.
I think that the main theme in this book is friendship between the narrator and Friedrich. I also have some evidence to back my idea up. Even though Friedrich and his family were Jewish, the narrator and his family still wanted to be friends. Another example is when the narrator broke a window and tried to tell the women that he broke it, but the women still blamed Friedrich.
I, myself, loved this book, and would recommended it for kids or adults in 4th grade and/or up. Why, might you ask, 4th grade and up? There are some sad and harsh parts in it. I have a lot of questions like what happens to the narrator and his family for helping a Jewish family. You will also have a lot of questions after my review, but if you read the book, it might answered some of your questions and satisfy your hunger to read books.
