If you're using this for vocab for class I would also highly suggest going to the townsendpress website and studying with the online practices until you got the words drilled into your head. ( This method got me A+'s on all my Vocab Test that consisted of the whole unit,50 vocab words)

Good Book, Not Outstanding

This book is good but it just didn't seem to keep my interest up throughout the book. But then again, I'm not an avid reader either. It did make you stop and examine yourself and your motives in your marriage. It also made you thing about how God views marriage vs how today's society looks at it and has cheapened its meaning to "what's in it for me." Overall it was a good book.

This book is not a normal marriage book. Normal marriage books focus on "fixing" the marriage, and they only work if both partners are willing to put in effort. I have read so many that I want to throw out the window because of that. THIS book is the truth. It won't "fix" your marriage, but it gives a MUCH better perspective of marriage and how to cope and even thrive in a painful marriage. It's about taking responsibility for yourself, regardless of what your spouse is doing, and how God works in your life no matter what. Highly, highly recommended for all couples, and even pre-marriage.

I did enjoy it, but it just wasn't one of those ...

I started this book, and admittedly have not finished it (hopefully someday I will). Having only become a Christian recently and not really having a background where I'm familiar with scripture, this was a little bit too scripture-ally based for my tastes. I did enjoy it, but it just wasn't one of those books that you "just can't put down." Unfortunately I put it down and haven't picked it back up.

About the Author

ROBERT W. WEISBERG, PhD, is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Brain, Behavior, and Cognition Cluster in the Psychology Department at Temple University. A cognitive psychologist, Dr. Weisberg's area of interest is creative thinking, the cognitive processes involved in the intentional production of novelty: solutions to problems, works of art, scientific theories, and inventions.

LAURETTA M. REEVES, PhD, teaches at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests span both cognitive psychology—including the development of expertise in mathematical problem solving, use of metaphor in literature, and cognitive development—and the lexical acquisition and role of animacy in categorical inference in children.

Well-written, accessible text for students and non-students

This textbook is scientifically adept, and combines up-to-date research in cognitive science and neuroscience with historical research on how psychologists first became interested in studying certain topics (such as imagery and tip-of-the-tongue states). It takes a novel approach to cognition--it assumes that all cognitive processes are heavily dependent on memory and what we have already learned. Whereas most cognitive psychology texts start with how information comes into the system--through visual processing then attention then memory, the authors cogently make the point that *all* cognition is filtered through prior experience. For instance, how could one "recognize" a table, or a dog, without already having stored information about tables or dogs in memory (to match up the new table to a stored representation)?

The book is engagingly written, with both a multitude of examples and descriptions of experiments to further one's knowledge of cognition and how people process information. Highly recommended.

Enlightening and humorous

Cognition: From Memory to Creativity was an excellent companion to any Intro Cognition class. It proved essential to understanding concepts while elucidating with numerous examples. Each theory also listed previous experimenters' works and laid a groundwork to build from. Overall a great choice for the class and an excellently structured/well-written textbook overall. This is the kind of textbook you actually want to keep.

I personally found this book very explanatory and beneficial to my learning. The experiments and experimenters are easy to locate because of the detailed subject index along with other topics. Ideas are explained more than once and in different ways to ensure comprehension. Overall i recommend this book to anybody interested in Cognitive Psychology.

It goes by body systems, which is useful It provides self exercises for the students, clear explanations and defintions, and lots of pictures. It also has simple pronunciation guidelines which are easy for the ESL students to understand.

I use this book currently with 3 classes. With the book comes a key code which allows you to log onto Medical Language Lab- an online computerized component. It is awesome, and the students really love it. It lets the instructor see each student's progress and grades. The book is organized by body system and has many colorful illustrations.

About the Author
Michael G. LaFosse entered the paper airplane scene in 1984 with his self-published pamphlet, "Aero-gami: F-14 Tomcat Fighter." A biologist by training, he went on to become one of the most celebrated natural history origami artists, and has produced dozens of books, kits, and videos.

It also comes with a dvd containing an expert who shows in great detail the actual folding of planes. anyone interested in this subject will enjoy this publication immensely.

First lets deal with the book. The military information is outdated. Also they took out important parts and added parts from other books to make this book look bigger. The out come is outdated content, a mix of content that will confuse you!
A very poor way to produce a book!
Now look at the reviewer: Floyd Jackson (Oklahoma City, OK) The "first" review; LOOK at all of his reviews 121 of them. All 121 of the reviews are for the publisher of this book Skyhorse Publishing or Lyons same people: I really don't like when someone trys to mislead me with book review, and want to talk me into buying a book becuase of how good it is. This guy has given 121 reviews for the same company, sorry I will not buy anything published by Skyhorse again because of this and this book has a lot of outdated and incomplete information any way!

Lots of good info on a big book

This book is excellent, the information contained is great for any amateur military enthusiast. Of course if you look at it with your 'special forces lens' it may not live up to your expectations. The only things I didn't quite like is that the book is really bulky, which is unavoidable so I'm not really complaining. Also, the figures could be better drawn, but that's just being picky as they're perfectly good to look at. You won't be disappointed with this book.
Btw, you can read the full book online for free (legally), just google FM_21-76. Though is better to read a real book IMHO.

Good book but poorly bound.

I purchased the US Army survival book, new from Amazon, in Sep 2010. I'm very pleased with the contents. However here lies the problem. The book is very poorly bound, and after just one day after I bought it, with light usage, the cover is falling off. I already threw away the box the book came in, so I don't know if I have any recourse.
Amazon.com sent me the book maybe 2 days after I bought it on the 'net, and I'm highly pleased with the speed of service. I don't believe I've ever received something in the mail so fast. My conclusion is that Amazon really takes care of their customers.
Another thing, the book is bound in Canada. Nothing against our Canadian brothers and sisters, but I expected a book based on the US Army survival skills to be at least made in USA.
However, the book is the best I've ever seen for survival technology. It is around 900 pages.
