Discover the Truth for yourself and recommend this book to others

I've been interested in the truth concerning the existence and reality of UFO's since my only sighting in 1970 when I was 7 years old. Reading this book makes me really stretch my head and wonder aloud "Why are we, the people of this planet, still made to believe that we are alone in the universe?" Then reality sets in and I think how our lives could be so much better if the United States Military had not suppressed the truth so many decades ago. But then I ask myself, "Why have They (Extraterrestrials) allowed this state of affairs continue?". I'm halfway through this book and hope to discover the answers to my questions.

Not what I expeceted, but it is well researched.

I looked forward to reading about the history of UFOs, but I soon found the writing in this to be dry and boring. It contained a lot of photos that were interesting, but overall I couldn't get through but 1/4 of the book. I must say that it is well researched with very thorough documentation. If you are looking for such documentation (times/dates/interviews/descriptions) then this book is for you, but after a while I just got tired of reading it.

I have to say that this book lives up to its 5 star rating. For anyone getting into the UFO subject, or even to someone who has been researching it for many years, this book should be the first one you read. In this book such topics are covered:

Roswell, the CIA involvement in the cover-up, George Adamski, Howard Menger (both who have probably the most controversial hard evidence of alien life along with Billy Meier), project Moon Dust, presidential UFO sightings and contacts, UFO history going back as far as the Egyptians/Christ/and the Mayans, Russian spaceships that have actually landed and made contact, the Star Wars program, extremely detailed accounts of the alien autopsies carried out in hangar 18, abduction stories, attempts by the UN to validify aliens, and finally more photogenic sightings such as the Illinois lights.

The author in this book just bombards you with information in incredible detail about these topics in a way that won't let you put this book down. As stated in other reviews, every chapter has something in it that you'll find yourself saying,, "wow...". This book mainly focuses on presenting every account that has some significance in it between the years 1940 and 1992. And believe me, a lot happened in those few years.

I can personally promise that anyone who reads this book will read somewhere, something that they haven't heard about yet or at least haven't heard it in such detail. This is an incredible book! If only we could get the general public to read such a book, they would see that we truely are not alone in the universe, or on earth as humans for that matter.

Only the Title Page would display

Buyer Beware! This score would not display on any of my devices: MyTouch 4g (android), Galaxy Tab, or PC app on XP. Maybe this was because of the 'optimized for larger screens' option of the score. After a few hours of trying to get it to display, I chose instead to return it. (thank you, kindle, for the return option!)

Does not work

All I could see on my Kindle was the title page. No sheet music at all, just a blank page after the title, and then a page telling me I'd finished the book. I tried on my PC also (using the cloud reader) and just saw the title page. I'm glad I was able to return it for a refund.

The five Tibetans

An indepth review of the Five Tibetans and the chakra stimulating benefits fo this moving meditation technique. Very good information and helpful instruction for those embarking on a journey of rejuvination and illumination. I bought this for both my daughters.

As good a guide to the 5 Tibetans as you are likely to find

This particular introduction to "The 5 Tibetan Rites" distinguishes itself from previous efforts. "T5T" provides the new trainee with a structured, progressive program that allows stiff, weak, or sedentary readers who might struggle with some of the more difficult Rites to get the full benefits of the program right from the start. And eventually following the "T5T" progressions will build strength and limberness that allow the reader to complete the traditional versions of the Rites without strain or discomfort. So the book is a real boon to a lot of potential 5 Rites practitioners.

The book is beautifully photographed, and the program is nicely conceived and designed. I was especially impressed by the breakdown and scaling of progressions for the 2nd Rite (the Leg Lift), which can be problematic for people with weak abs or bad backs. The progressions for 4th Rite (the "Table") which makes some severe demands on the shoulder girdle also display a lot of insight and thought.

I only give the book 4 stars out of 5 because of the nature of the 5 Rites themselves. The 5 Tibetans are very elementary and basic exercises, and by no means as comprehensive and all embracing in their effects as their enthusiasts would have you believe. Most people will soon grow bored with such a simple routine and will need to find ways to add variety and sophistication to their health and vitality practices. That's not to say you shouldn't learn them and do them if they appeal to you; most trainees will derive good benefits from them. If 10 minutes is all you really have for your health, by all means do them.

Good book, great value for a trade paperback. If Witt writes another book in this vein, I'll certainly be interested in it.

This book is a cut above the others on the Five Tibetans simply because it places the practice of the exercises within the reach of people of all ages and levels of fitness. Ms Witt has consulted with health and exercise experts to ensure that anyone wishing to learn these wonderful rites can do so safely. There is an emphasis on breathing correctly and developing core stability, and on preparation for learning the exercises so that your muscles are ready and able to do the rites correctly. There are variations on each rite which will not only guide you safely from beginner to intermediate to advanced - but will also provide alternative ways of doing each exercise should you suffer from an injury - or just find the advanced version too difficult to do.

The book is also beautifully presented and very well laid out. Ms Witt explains both the exercises and the philosophy behind T5T thoroughly and entertainingly. There is no better book to help you begin the path toward T5T.

Fabulous (but demanding!) classic with entertaining asides

This book is a famous classic. The commentaries on historically important problems and the mathematicians who solved them are fascinating and entertaining and fun reading even for non-mathematicians. For example, someone studying the history of science would gain much from reading through them and could use the book as a shelf reference. The mathematical presentation is demanding, but if you get through it you'll definitely have achieved something. WARNING: A professor tells me that the problems in this book include many that would stump most professors! This book is not suitable as a universal textbook. But there are also many problems that ordinary students will be able to do.

An absolute gem of textbook!

I've taught upper division students from this book (and the first edition) 5-6 times for over a decade. I remain impressed by the broad range of topics from which the teacher and reader can select. As with his excellent calculus textbook, the author tries to show students how mathematics is a human activity, a subject that developed in response to actual needs and which is still lively and developing. No part of mathematics illustrates this development better than the topic of differential equations, which was invented to solve pressing problems in astronomy. One example: In Newton's time, accurate location of position on the open seas was an unsolved problem, crucial to commerce. New techniques from differential equations led to the ready calculation of tables which, together with the invention of Harrison's sea-going chronometer, effectively solved the navigation problem. Differential equations lie at the core of the physical sciences and engineering and are proving increasingly valuable in biology and medicine. Simmons' book will not appeal to readers who want merely recipes with examples of their use. Such readers might prefer the excellent books from the Schaum's Outline Series. Those readers who want to see vital mathematics well presented, those readers who think that mathematics stops at trigonomerty or the calculus, those readers who want to use differential equations intelligently, and those readers who just like a cracking good mathematics story should get a copy of Simmons' book and read.
